Claims

At Solistics, we understand the realities of the shipping industry …

  • Freight is occasionally lost
  • Packages get damaged

The one thing that people dislike more than freight loss and damages, are the claims that go along with them.  Solistics makes every conceivable effort to make you happy and ensure the best possible outcome.

Start here by downloading a copy of our claim form.  We can then submit the claim and we will keep you informed and updated throughout the entire process.

It is very important that we obtain the proper documents and information so we can file the claim in a timely manner.  The information required, along with the process as a whole, is similar among all the carriers.

DOCUMENTS

  • BILL OF LADING – The original Bill of lading serves as evidence of the receipt, as well as the kind, quantity, and apparent condition of the goods.
  • ORIGINAL INVOICE – A complete original invoice verifies the claimed amount does not exceed the terms of sale (value of good at destination), and excludes any prospective profit. The original invoice must disclose all discounts and allowances, if any. A clear photocopy of the complete original invoice is acceptable.
  • REPAIR INVOICE – If applicable.
  • INSPECTION REPORT – If applicable
  • PAID FREIGHT BILL – Include the original paid freight bill or a signed statement verifying freight charges have been paid in full on the shipment against which the claim has been filed. For a claim to be concluded, all freight charges must be paid.

IMPORTANT INFO

  • Even after filing the claim, please do not dispose of damaged freight and packaging.  The carriers require that all damaged freight and packaging be available until the claim is completely resolved, which carriers have up to 120 days after the claim is filed to complete their investigation.
  • When you receive your freight, please make sure to inspect the freight closely and notate any damage on the delivery receipt before signing even if it does not seem significant at the time.  Occassionally freight may appear to be in good condition at first glance but once the pallets are broken down the damage may be more severe.  If you notice any damage after delivery then please call us immediately so that we can inform the carrier.  Most carriers require notification of concealed damage within 14 days.
  • Solistics will file the claim on your behalf and to obtain the specific carrier policies please visit the the carrier website directly.  If you have additional questions or require additional information then please call us for assistance!  800-843-6089

Solistics will file the claim on your behalf and we will then release the claim amount, if any, to your company when received by the carrier.
